Green River Distilling Co., located in Owensboro KY, has a storied history of creating whiskey dating all the way back into the late 1800’s. The distillery has changed hands a few times over the years, but recently returned to the company’s original name and revived the flagship brand Green River KY Straight Bourbon Whiskey. As of June 2022, Green River Distilling Co., is going to be changing hands again due to an acquisition by a private capital group that recently acquired Bardstown Bourbon Co. Time will tell if we will continue to see Green River on the shelves or if the distillery’s new owners have different plans for the brand.
Green River is packaged in a nice horseshoe shaped bottle. This bourbon is a nice value sipper compared to some of the traditional bottles that everyone is currently chasing. There are some youthful notes with this one that could be rounded out with a little more age, but overall this is a decent, relatively inexpensive pour.
