Distilled at Buffalo Trace and aged in Virginia, John J. Bowman Single Barrel is much easier to find in my area than its relative E.H. Taylor Single Barrel. The price is typically MSRP, unlike E.H. Taylor Single Barrel, which is normally only available at a ridiculous mark up.
John J. Bowman Single Barrel has very nice qualities that carry through from the nose to the finish that I enjoyed overall. But, how does John J. Bowman Single Barrel compare with its Buffalo Trace relative? I’ve only had a few pours of E.H. Taylor Single Barrel and while there are some similarities, I think John J. Bowman Single Barrel isn’t quite there comparatively. John J. Bowman is a nice pour but it’s missing the refinement, and complexity I have gotten with E.H. Taylor Single Barrel samples in the past.
