The 2023 BEP release of Maker’s Mark Wood Finishing series is the last page of this chapter of the Wood Finishing series. According to Maker’s Mark, there is another exciting chapter of release to come. BEP is the seventh release of the Wood Finishing series and a fine addition.
It had a low barrel entry proof of 110 and is finished with 10 toasted staves per barrel. Personally, I don’t feel the toasted stave finish gets the same effect that a toasted barrel finish gets. Other toasted finish bourbons I have tried tend to have a better toasted marshmallow sweetness that I don’t quite get with Maker’s Mark BEP. With that said Maker’s Mark BEP is a nice higher proof sipper that is enjoyable. But, if you have the choice of getting one bottle from the Wood Finishing series, I would highly recommend FAE-02 over this one or any other that I have tried.
