I recently made a trip to KY to visit family and made a stop by one of my favorite bars in Lexington to find a good pour at a decent price, LexLive. This time they had a few special bottles on the shelf for a reasonable price of $26 for a 2 ounce pour. Two BTAC releases and a Weller C.Y.P.B. were available, so I tried the William Larue Weller 2022 release and the Thomas H. Handy 2022 release.
The William Larue Weller 2022 release did not disappoint. It is a wonderful, sweet, smooth, sipper from start to finish. I feel Willam Larue Weller 2022 is not the most balanced whiskey I have tried. It does lean towards the sweet end of the flavor spectrum, but in a very good way. On my first few sips, I detected a slight touch of dryness. This went away as my palate opened.
So far, this is the best Weller product I have had the chance to try. If you have been following my previous posts, you probably know what I think of the price. This is by no means worth the ridiculous secondary and high marked up prices you will probably see this for on a shelf near you. But if you can find it for anywhere near the retail price of $99, pick it up and I think you will not be disappointed.
