On a recent trip to Kentucky, we made a few stops on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. One of the stops we made was at Limestone Branch Distillery. We took a fantastic tour and had a tasting session (21 and over) at the end of the tour. The tour allows people under 21 to view the entire facility if you happen to have a little one in your party, which is rare for a lot of the tours I have seen on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. One of the special bottles we got to taste was the limited release Yellowstone Toasted Barrel.
Yellowstone Toasted Barrel is a limited release, finished bourbon that according to our tour guide, is a distillery exclusive. Out of the Yellowstone lineup, this is my favorite. I enjoy the Yellowstone single barrel picks and regular Yellowstone, but the toasted finish adds a nice layer of complexity that I really enjoy. This bourbon is extremely smooth, with nice layers of balanced flavor. The price is a little north of what I would like to have paid, but if you happen to be near Limestone Branch Distillery and enjoy Yellowstone and toasted finish bourbon, I would highly recommend stopping in to see if they have a bottle available.
